LIREI is a multidisciplinary team of researchers, members of the Hydrogen Research Institute (IRH) at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Since 1999, we have been working to optimize energy use in buildings and vehicles, with a particular interest in hydrogen and renewable energy.

$2.88M for the INRS-UQTR joint research unit on the energy transition

The INRS-UQTR joint research unit on materials and technologies for the energy transition secures $2.88M: three NSERC Alliance projects and a Canada Research Chair, with Hydro-Québec, Mitacs and Arkema Canada as partners. Professor Kodjo Agbossou leads the work on solid oxide fuel cells and their integration into the power grid.

PhD defended: Daniel Camilo Galeano Suárez, on equity in transactive energy

Daniel Camilo Galeano Suárez defended his PhD in electrical engineering on 18 June 2026 at UQTR's Albert-Tessier building. A LIREI member, his work addresses equity and cost sharing in transactive energy systems: assessment frameworks for cost-sharing agreements, the effects of locational marginal pricing on fairness and voltage quality, and co-simulation of distribution grid constraints.
