UQTR and Trois-Rivières
A French-speaking university of the Université du Québec network, halfway between Montreal and Quebec City on the St. Lawrence. A city on a human scale, where campus, housing and daily life sit close together rather than an hour apart — and where the laboratory will soon move into the new downtown research building.
A multicultural environment
The laboratory brings together people from West Africa, Latin America, North Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Quebec, and sustains working ties with fifteen universities across four continents. Research is published in English; university life runs in French, and UQTR supports learning the language.
After graduation
Our graduates continue in research — several have returned to the laboratory as postdoctoral fellows — or join industry and partner research centres, among them Hydro-Québec's LTE. One is now a professor at UQTR. Because projects run with industrial partners, those connections exist well before the thesis is finished.
Training and visibility
More than half the publication catalogue is conference papers: students present their own work, in Canada and abroad. The laboratory supports that participation, along with continuing training — summer schools, workshops and methodological development.
