LIREI is recruiting a doctoral student for the management strand of a four-year project on supplying an isolated northern community with energy. The work is to design the strategy that coordinates the grid's resources — renewable generation, storage, the hydrogen chain, heating — within the constraints established with the community, then to validate it against the criterion that matters there: reliability of supply.
Profile sought
A master's degree in electrical or computer engineering, or a related field. Optimisation, distributed control or machine learning applied to energy systems. A taste for working from field data and for design carried out with the people concerned. French or English is required; the work is published in English. Stays in the partner community are planned and funded.
Funding
A four-year doctoral scholarship, within a project of the ACET network (Accelerating Community Energy Transformation), funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund. Fieldwork travel is covered by the project.
