Various flexibility market mechanisms have been proposed to manage power system resources, but most address a specific need without considering how they interact with other grid management mechanisms. Effective implementation of flexibility markets depends on their coordination with other energy markets: regulation, balancing, load following, voltage and frequency control, reserve.
This doctoral project builds interdependency models that support the coordination of local flexibility markets for the provision of distribution grid services — allowing participants in one market to become flexibility providers in another, improving the grid's economic efficiency and avoiding oversized or impractical systems.

Methodology
Four stages: analysis of coordination mechanisms among actors (grid operators, aggregators, consumers); multi-agent coordination models for local ancillary services; a service portfolio encouraging flexibility-provider participation; identification of auction-based economic models.
